Around the 18th of the second month after the reference quarter.
What it is
Gross domestic product (GDP) measures the value of all final goods and services produced in Chile in a quarter. It is the benchmark gauge of the country's economic growth, published in the Banco Central de Chile's National Accounts.
How it's calculated
The central bank aggregates output by economic activity in prior-year chain-linked prices (2018 reference) and publishes the year-on-year change (not seasonally adjusted) and the seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter change, alongside the level of the series.
Market implications
It is the quarterly barometer of Chile's economy: surprises in either direction shift monetary policy expectations and the Chilean peso. It is heavily influenced by the mining sector, copper in particular.
Limitations
It is subject to revision in later releases, and the quarterly seasonal adjustment can be reworked as new observations come in.
