An advance estimate is released first, with the final figure at the end of the quarter.

What it is

The Gross Domestic Product is one of the main economic aggregates of the National Accounts of a country, since it represents in a global way the final result of the productive activity of an economy. It is the value of the Goods and Services generated by an economy in its territory.

How it's calculated

Like most of the indices that attempt to measure this magnitude is obtained by adding spending on goods and services for final consumption by households, Gross Fixed Capital Formation and Investment, Public Expenditure and Balance Net Exports and imports. Like all members of the European Union construction is governed by rules at Community level.

Market implications

It provides regular information on how it evolves the global productive activity of the nation. This information is used by policy makers as a guideline when planning and implementing economic policy of the country data.

Limitations

In the German case the data on gross domestic product are published approximately two months after the end of the period to which they relate. In addition, with the publication of information relating to the corresponding quarter the previous quarter is revised, so that the first publication can not be considered definitive.
