About this indicator

SourceHungarian Central Statistical Office
FrequencyAnual
Release Publicación anual, referida al conjunto del ejercicio y sujeta a revisión.
What it isGross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the value of all final goods and services produced in Hungary over a given period. Published by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH), it is the broadest gauge of the size and pace of growth of the Hungarian economy.
How it's calculatedEstimated via the expenditure, output and income approaches, which must reconcile. The KSH publishes a flash estimate and a detailed release, in quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and year-on-year (YoY) terms, in both raw and seasonally and calendar-adjusted data.
Market implicationsThe main reference for gauging the health and cycle of the Hungarian economy. Its path shapes the Hungarian National Bank's (MNB) decisions on interest rates and the forint; stronger-than-expected growth tends to support rates and the currency.
LimitationsReleased several weeks after the quarter it covers, and the flash estimate is revised in later releases, so the first reading is not final.
