Qué es
El Producto Interior Bruto (PIB) mide el valor de todos los bienes y servicios finales producidos en Bélgica en un periodo. Es el indicador más amplio del tamaño y del ritmo de crecimiento de la economía belga; lo publica el Banco Nacional de Bélgica junto con Statbel.
Cálculo
Se elabora según el marco europeo SEC 2010 y puede obtenerse por las vías de demanda, oferta y rentas, que deben coincidir. Se difunde en volumen (ajustado de precios y estacionalidad) y suele seguirse su variación trimestral (QoQ) e interanual (YoY), con una estimación flash y revisiones posteriores.
Implicaciones
Es la referencia principal para valorar el ciclo belga y condiciona empleo, recaudación y expectativas de mercado. Como miembro de la zona euro, un crecimiento más fuerte de lo previsto refuerza el argumento de una política monetaria del BCE menos acomodaticia y tiende a apoyar al euro.
Debilidades
Se publica con semanas de retraso y la estimación flash se revisa en difusiones posteriores, por lo que el primer dato no es definitivo. Los ajustes estacionales y de precios pueden alterar la señal y una economía abierta como la belga es sensible al comercio exterior.
